Which personality traits did you choose to respond to and apply the typeface?
4 words I worked off: Feminine, modern, Homely, Wholesome
Reasons behind decisions you have made for the typeface?
I chose Monotype Corsiva to base it on for 2 reasons. Firstly just because it is a favourite of Charlotte's and Secondly becuause it is a feminine font due to its curvatious serif's.
I chose black and white simply becuase her favourite colour is black, but I also found that with colour it made the font look naffer than it should. It also appeared slicker and "trendier". This way by adding the cat theme it could still appear slightly more modern aswell as a humble approach.
In what ways are the results effective?
I think that the font as an image suits the taste of Charlotte and as a whole looks well put together as it appears as a set without a doubt. However I don't think my font has any significant concept. I also think that my typeface doesn't fulfill it's job as being a working font, meaning it doesn't run fluently in a word as there are too many interceptions to make irregular spacing.
Referring to the typeface that was designed for me
What personality traits do you interpret from the typeface designed to represent you?
From the typeface I felt an overall feeling of a neat and orderly font but then with snippets of suprising uses of colour and detail involving bike parts with closer inspection. From afar it reminded me of a childlike coloured image with unpredictable pattern inside the lines but closer up had precise detail, parts and positioning. This all suggested that she went with the concept of bike parts as well as sparky yet subtle uses of colour, instigating a childlike yet calm and memory based font.
Describe what you think of the typeface...
I think as a group they look well put together and orderly. Its definatley a legible font. I like the fact that on closer inspection there is more to the font than meets the eye. However, I think that these details work well when the font is at a substantual size but on a smaller scale i'm not sure they do themselves justice. Maybe if the detail was a little more exhaggerated they would have more of a presence. The use of colour worked really well as the inclusion of colour can often ruin any type of image or typeface.
In what ways is it in effective and in what way is it ineffective of representing you?
I was really impressed at the fact that the typeface Charlotte produced had a similar looking concept the typeface I had made for myself in the summer brief. This might have suggested that she had grasped my personality really well in a short space of time. However this might not have been the same concept as in the questionare i mentioned my back and charlotte grasped onto this as an idea which shut off other aspects of my personality. However I think that she manipulated this idea to give a overall playful typeface which i believe suits my personality.
