What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

From the beginning of this module an introduction of research in mass quantity (or more than I had ever done previously) was given.  This alone has broadened my mind into thinking alot more "outside the box" and on bigger scales.  The thought of creating a whole set of projects from just one tangent of many possible tangents is a good thing to have done.  It has taught me to dig deeper to never have the feeling of I have done enough research,  There is always something else I could find out.  I feel as though This was done more effectivley in the most recent 100 project.  The What if group project was even after refining it, far too vague.  The 100 brief was alot more structured than I thought it would have been,  This was purely through my thoughts from categorising in mass quantity and process of elimination.
I think that my time management skills were highlighted in good and bad ways for this project.  I didnt find myself running abound towards deadline time, yes my work stepped up but there was no last minute scrappy work being produced the day before.  However I feel I completely messed up on ratio of development (sketchbook) work and the final piece manufacture.  Despite the cuts and blisters I did actually find this manufacture enjoyable but I think it got in the way of my 'creative juices'.  I thoroughly enjoyed the idea brainstorming part of this project too.  But again I feel as though it sidetracked me from any more potential research besides my target audience research,  I felt really accomplished with the range of materials I managed to collect.  It was just nice to see it all together really.  I don't think after this I set myself any more challenging tasks to find out more, I just worked with what I had from the 300 collection.  It proved enough it seemed but who know what else i could have found out and branched off on, but then the project would have gone on forever.

2. What approaches to/methods of research have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

I think that for the particular brief the 100 photographs worked really well.  I dont see myself using that as a routine thing to establish what I will branch into in future projects to come, but I definitely wouldn't forget the method at all.  I found the method of researching from questionnaires quite an iffy method to use.  I feel as though it is limited because you would only receive opinions or facts etc from people who are willing to answer.  I think that this could miss out potential information.
I found the collecting the collecting opinions the most interesting.  I would have liked to have homed in on this a little.  I see myself using that alot more in the future along with experimenting with different media for example video.  I feel as though I look in a lot more un expected places to find some answers that I wouldn't have before this project.  I think it has boosted my confidence and ability to think of other methods not just the ones i have learnt from this module.  They will be used again though I am sure.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

I will take on board my new found ability to produce in quantity in a restricted time.  I will also take on board the fact that I have used media from past projects and applied them in this one.  I feel as though I am slowly building up a small amount of experience which is a nice feeling.  I doubt I would have thought to make a typeface in the first project.  I hope to continue this in the next module.  I think that during the group work I supplied alot of enthusiasm and ideas.  I supplied potential deisng ideas aswell as finding problems and attempting to solve them but still in a group compromising  attitude as I am not a big fan of group work when everyone in the group has contradicting styles and design ideas.  I felt I was being patient as I didn't particularly like the final design but hopefully I have learnt you wont always get what you want in group work.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these more fully?

I think that my development work was not in proportion with my final outcome and initial collection in project 100.  I feel like I didn;t have a very good translation into viduals from what was going on it my head.  This is both not enough work and the mockups etc that I created did not justify my own internal visions.  I also think that I spent too much time focused to one possible outcome.  I feel as though I brainstormed a sufficient amount but I only followed though with one or two ideas.
I found the group work really fustrating.  I t was hard to come to an agreement on anything.  Individually I dont think I would have come up with what was made as my final outcome.  I found the time management and group schedule hard to deal with.
I am pleased with the digital outcomes of my photoshop breif as I got to fulfill both the brief and my own taste of what I like to do as a creative outlet.  However, the printing of the postcards went drastically wrong.  The alignments messed up on th stock I had chosen so I had to make samples of what the colours and layout would have been if correctly printed.  Not very professional at all.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
numberone
I will be more patient in group work.  Even though I kept it internal, kept ideas flowing and caused no conflict within the group, I must understand that in group work the final outcome is not going to be to your liking completely.  Compromising is essential.
numbertwo
I will follow through with i higher number of initial ideas before I specialise on something in particular.
numberthree
I will test out complicated printing methods
numberfour
I will present my development work in a more professional manor.
numberfive
I will step away from my 'safe style'

6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas:

(please indicate using an ‘x’)

5= excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor

Attendance  5
Punctuality  3
Motivation 4
Commitment  4
Quantity of work produced 2
Quality of work produced 3
Contribution to the group 4
